Hazel L. Joseph,
Hazel Joseph was
first exposed to burn patient care in 1993 at the University of Louisville
where she completed her M.D., PhD. She completed her general surgical
residency at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University,
New York Health and Hospitals Cooperation. She was assigned to the United
States Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Unit from 2001-03. She is
a member of the Burn Special Medical Augmentation Response Team (SMART)
and Flight team. She served as the Director of the USAISR Respiratory
Department and participated as a U.S. Army AMEDD Burn subject matter
expert (SME) in third world countries, most recently in Peru and Guyana. She is an
Advanced Burn Life Support provider and instructor. Peer-reviewed
publications have been in the use of experimental drugs to inhibit wound
contraction and in the role of G-proteins in fibroblast cell polarity and
migration in wound healing.
